A business delegation from Japan paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, Mr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. During the meeting held in a cordial atmosphere at the office of the RACC Administrator at Nagar Bhaban on Saturday (June 20), they exchanged greetings and discussed education, healthcare, employment, information and technology, and investment opportunities. At this time, the RACC Administrator expressed his hope to work with Japan for the development of Rajshahi, subject to the approval of the appropriate authorities and the concerned ministries of the Bangladesh Government and following the prevailing laws and regulations.
During the meeting, both sides expressed hope to further strengthen mutual communication and cooperation in the future. After the meeting, the RASIK administrator gave the Japanese business delegation a tour of the call center and skill development center at Nagar Bhaban.
The Japanese delegation included Kawamoto Yasuhiro, CEO of Japan Group, Yuta Shigemori, Representative Director of General Incorporated Association Hummingbird, Hideki Sakakibara, CEO of Sun-Sun Global Agency, Seiji Ishimoto, Executive Director of West Okayama Medical Clinic and CEO of Handson Land. Also present was Professor Abu Sayeed, Marketing Department, University of Rajshahi.
During the discussion, Japanese business representatives expressed their interest in the skilled and potential manpower of the Rajshahi region. They said that the demand for skilled workers in various sectors in Japan is increasing day by day and they are positively considering the recruitment of trained and skilled workers from Rajshahi. They also discussed positively the establishment of sister city relations between Rajshahi City and two Japanese cities.
Rasik Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton warmly welcomed the Japanese business delegation and said, “The young people of Rajshahi are talented, hardworking and capable. If proper training and opportunities are ensured, they will be able to play an important role in the international arena.”
At that time, the RASIC Administrator also said that Rajshahi is an agricultural region, where a huge amount of mangoes are produced every year. Rajshahi’s mangoes are widely appreciated across the country and are also in demand in the international market. If a modern cold storage is established in Rajshahi, it will be possible to store mangoes for a long time. This will benefit farmers, mango growers and traders and export opportunities will also increase. As a result, the agricultural economy of this region will be stronger.
He further said that this interest of the Japanese business delegation is very good news for the people of Rajshahi. Through this, new doors of international employment can be opened for the skilled manpower of Rajshahi, which will have a positive impact on the overall economy of the country.
At that time, Rajshahi City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Supervising Engineer Khairul Baker, Supervising Engineer (Acting) Ahmed Al Moin, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Md. Nur-e-Saeed and other senior officials concerned were present.
