The Traffic Department of Brahmanbaria District Police has taken an exceptional initiative to reduce the number of fatalities in road accidents and inculcate safe driving habits among motorcyclists. A special program was conducted on Wednesday, June 17 morning, with emphasis on raising awareness instead of taking punitive measures.
The program, which was initiated by the District Police Traffic Department from 11:15 am, stopped motorcyclists riding without helmets and informed them about the importance of safety without immediately filing a case or fine. At the same time, 34 motorcyclists were motivated to buy new helmets at their own expense and use them regularly.
At this time, motorcyclists who obey traffic laws and use helmets were greeted with flowers. In addition, all drivers were urged to wear helmets and drive safely in the future.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) MM Rakib Ur Raja was present at the program. He told the motorcyclists, “To reduce the risk of death and serious injuries in road accidents, it is mandatory to use a quality helmet while riding a motorcycle. There is no alternative to a helmet for your own safety.”
According to district police sources, various activities are being conducted continuously to ensure the use of helmets and to make people aware of traffic laws. As part of this, an awareness campaign was conducted in Brahmanbaria city on June 16 through miking throughout the day, calling for compliance with traffic laws.
The Traffic Department of the District Police said that such public awareness activities will continue in the future to ensure safe roads.
“Your safety is in your hands. Wear a helmet, ride safely.” Keeping this slogan in mind, the district police is continuing its efforts to build safe roads in Brahmanbaria.
