Sayragandha is a village on the
border of the two districts of Nilphamari and Rangpur. The village is located in Paschim
Daliram Sayragandha Mouza in Garagram Union of Kishoreganj Upazila.
Although the village is ahead in terms of education, it is lagging behind in terms of
communication system. On a field visit, it was found that there are 3 primary schools and
a community clinic in the village. In terms of population, about 4 thousand people,
including Hindus and Muslims, live in the village. After independence, although the MP
was elected from Nilphamari-4 constituency in Kishoreganj Upazila most of the time, no
development has been done in the communication system including roads.
About one and a half kilometers of road from Mandal Para to Janki Babu Para via
Sayragandha is unpaved. If it rains a little, the road becomes impassable by mixing with
mud and water. Although some motorcycles, bicycles, vans and rickshaws are pliable
during the dry season, they are not pliable during the rainy season. When talking to
Abdul Matin Mission, a resident of the village, and some other people, they said that the
members and chairmen assure that road work will not be done after the vote, so our elder
brother Mazharul Islam is doing the road work on his own initiative.
When talking to Mazharul Islam on the phone, he said that these works are supposed to
be done by the public representatives, but they do not take any notice of them. Seeing the
inconvenience caused by the people's movement, we have done these works with our
own funds and will do some more work in the coming days.
When talking to Jonab Ali, Chairman of Garagram UP, on the phone, he said that a
project has been given to the LGED office for that road.
The locals are seeking the speedy assistance of the concerned authorities to pave the road.
