Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled yet another push-in attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) into Bangladesh at the Naogaon border.
According to Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) sources, at approximately 12:40 am on Saturday (June 13), members of Kotalpur Camp of 88 Battalion of BSF tried to push 15 people into Bangladesh near Border Pillar 220/MP in the area under the responsibility of Rokanpur BOP under the battalion. Among them were 2 men, 8 women and 5 children. They tried to cross the border by boat through the river.
However, the push-in attempt was completely foiled by the BGB’s immediate and effective action. At that time, the individuals were inside India along the zero line of the border.
Later, in the face of the BGB’s firm stance and strict action, BSF members took the 15 people back into India through the Bhabanipur area adjacent to border pillar 220/MP at approximately 2:40 am on the same day.
In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, PSC, commander of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), said, “BGB is always vigilant to prevent push-ins, illegal infiltration and crossing at the Naogaon and Chapainawabganj borders. Surveillance has been further strengthened in the border area and BGB is determined to prevent any mischief.”
The BGB said round-the-clock patrolling and surveillance activities are continuing in the border area and the situation is being closely monitored.
