The current government’s election pledge to protect the environment and strengthen climate resilience, ‘250 million tree plantation in 5 years’, was inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, MP, through a nationwide tree plantation program in the Malumghat Reserve Forest of Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. As part of the tree plantation program, the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated the tree plantation program at the Divisional Women’s Sports Complex ground on Saturday afternoon, organized by the Rajshahi District Administration and the Social Forest Department. Prayers and supplications were offered at this time.
Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Rajshahi Range DIG Mohammad Shahjahan, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Fayezul Kabir, Rajshahi District Police Superintendent Mohammad Naimul Hasan, Social Forest Department, Bogra Forest Conservator Muhammad Subedar Islam and Social Forest Department, Rajshahi Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam among others. Under the program, various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees including neem, kadam, kathbadam, jam, chalta, mango, guava, jackfruit, olive and amalki were planted to protect the environment and strengthen climate tolerance.
The program included Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP Vice President Joynal Abedin Shibli, Organizing Secretary Rabiul Alam Milu, Metropolitan Jubo Dal Convener Shariful Islam Joni, Metropolitan Krishak Dal President Sharfuzzaman Shamim, Metropolitan Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Mir Tarek, Member Secretary Asaduzzaman Joni, Metropolitan Chhatra Dal Convener Rakin Raihan Robin, Member Secretary Emdadul Haque Limon, local police station and ward BNP leaders at various levels, and leaders of organ and associate organizations.
