Rozina Akhter, a student of class six in a school in Kolkata, India. She was living happily there with her parents and five siblings. Recently, as per the decision of the Indian government, the Indian BSF pushed 11 people, including her parents and siblings, to the Thakurgaon border in Bangladesh. The eyes that once dreamed of becoming great after studying, today are filled with fear and insecurity.
On Friday night, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 11 people, including men, women and children, at the Mashalgaon border in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon. Even after 48 hours, there is no solution. Even after two flag meetings, no solution has been found. As a result, they have been living an inhuman life sitting on the border land for three days. Sometimes sunburned and sometimes wet in the rain, they are struggling to survive without food and bathing. Even though the villagers of the Thakurgaon-Mashalgaon border have given them some dry food from a humanitarian point of view, it is not enough. With her disabled younger brother and 9-month pregnant mother, Rozina’s tears do not stop. She wants to return home soon.
According to BGB sources, on June 5 at around 3:30 am, BSF tried to force 11 people to enter Bangladesh near border pillar 349/7-S in the area under the responsibility of BOP of Moshalgaon in Haripur upazila. On receiving the information, a patrol team of BGB quickly reached the spot, identified them and prevented them from entering Bangladesh. Among them, there are 3 men, 4 women and 4 children. Currently, they are about 50 yards inside the zero line of the Indian border.
During initial interrogation, the men said they lived in Dum Dum area of West Bengal, India. On May 26, Indian law enforcement agencies took them into custody and kept them in a specific location, where about 200 to 300 others were staying. Later, they were divided into different groups and taken to different areas near the border.
They claim that they were taken to the 87th BSF Battalion’s Bahrgaon camp in an Indian police vehicle and kept there for a day. Later, on the night of June 6, they were sent towards the border and tried to enter Bangladesh.
In this regard, Dinajpur (42 BGB) Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan said, “Highest alert has been issued in the border area and patrolling activities have been intensified. A flag meeting is underway at the company commander level between BGB and BSF regarding the incident. BGB is always on alert to prevent any kind of illegal infiltration and push-in at the border. We are trying to find a quick solution through a flag meeting between the two sides.
