With the aim of increasing public awareness in dengue prevention, the “Public Awareness Rally for Dengue Prevention-2026” has been held at the initiative of Rajshahi City Corporation. The rally started at 11 am on Saturday (6 June) from in front of the Nagar Bhaban. Then, the rally ended at the Nagar Bhaban premises via Darikharbona More, Kadirganj and again at the Nagar Bhaban premises. The chief guest at the rally was the Honorable Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. After the rally, the RACC Administrator addressed a brief gathering at the Nagar Bhaban premises.
At this time, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, appealing to the city dwellers, said, “Although dengue is a serious mosquito-borne disease, it can be prevented through awareness and joint efforts. So, let’s all play an effective role in preventing dengue to keep our families and beloved city safe.” Rajshahi City Corporation is taking advance preparations to prevent dengue. Our efforts will continue to build a dengue-free Rajshahi metropolis. Along with the activities of the City Corporation to prevent dengue, the city dwellers must also keep their yards and surroundings clean.
At this time, the RASC Administrator urged everyone to be aware of removing stagnant water and destroying mosquito breeding grounds.
He also said, “We are working relentlessly to build a clean city and ensure citizen services as per the instructions of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Earlier, we had taken various initiatives to combat measles and rubella. This time, various initiatives have been taken to prevent dengue.” A two-week fogger machine spraying program will be started to kill mosquitoes before the monsoon.
The rally was attended by RASIC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam, Chief Cleaning Officer Sheikh Md Mamun, Superintending Engineer Ahmed Al Moin, Chief Health Officer Dr. AAM Anjuman Ara Begum, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Md. Nur-e-Sayed, Councilor in charge of Wards 25 and 28 of RASIC, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Rajshahi Assistant Director Mohammad Abdur Razzak, City Corporation officials and employees, CDC members, ward secretaries, health workers, and volunteers from Red Crescent and BDClean.
