Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a private car and an electric auto rickshaw in Shibpur, Narsingdi. One person was injured in the incident. The accident occurred in the Ashrafpur area of Shibpur upazila on the Itakhola-Manohardi road on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased in the road accident are Junayed Sheikh (13) of Satpara village of Chakradha union of Shibpur upazila and Rubel Sheikh (19) of Lakushi village of the same police station.
Police and locals said that an electric auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided with a private car between Kumartek and Monurtek in Ashrafpur area.
The auto rickshaw driver Md. Rubel Sheikh and passenger Junayed Sheikh were killed in the accident. Junayed’s mother Mahfuza was seriously injured at the time.
Eyewitnesses said that after the accident, locals rescued three injured people and took them to the hospital. The doctor on duty there declared Junaid dead and advised sending Rubel to Dhaka for better treatment. Rubel later died on the way to Dhaka.
Shibpur Model Police Station OC Mohammad Kohinoor Mia said that the bodies were handed over to the families without autopsy following the request of the relatives.
