Moran Mia (40), a three-month-old accused in a Yaba consumption case in Brahmanbaria, has died. He fell ill in the district jail on Monday morning, May 18 and was taken to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital. Later, doctors at the emergency department declared him dead.Moran Mia is the son of Bayjid Mia of Dharmandal village in Dharmandal union of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. Moran Mia was sentenced to prison in a Yaba consumption case on May 9.
According to hospital and prison sources, Moran Mia suddenly fell ill while having breakfast in the prison on Monday morning.
Prison doctor Dr. Shakhawat Hossain Tanvir said that Moran Mia was given first aid immediately after falling ill. Later, when his physical condition deteriorated, he was taken to the hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, his pressure, pulse and oxygen level could not be obtained. It is initially believed that he died due to stroke.Brahmanbaria District Jail Superintendent Md. Mojibur Rahman Majumder said that Moran Mia came to the jail on May 9 after being sentenced in a Yaba consumption case. He was sent to the hospital on Monday morning when he felt unwell. He died while undergoing treatment there. The body has been kept at the morgue of the District Sadar Hospital. After completing the legal process, the body will be handed over to the family after completing the autopsy.
