Rajshahi mangoes are coming to the market this week. Rajshahi district administration has announced the start of mango collection from May 15. After that, different varieties of mangoes will come to the market step by step.

The Department of Agricultural Extension announced the calendar as part of the current season’s mango harvesting schedule at the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Sunday (May 10) afternoon.

The Department of Agriculture said that this schedule has been set to prevent the marketing of unripe mangoes and maintain the quality of mangoes.
According to the announced schedule, Gopalbhog can be collected from May 22, Ranipachanda and Lakshmanbhog from May 25, Himsagar and Khirsapat from May 30. In addition, bananas, mangoes and langra can be marketed from June 10, and Amrapali and Fazli from June 15.
The collection of Bari Mango-4 will begin on July 5, Ashwina on July 10, and Gaurmati can be collected from July 15. However, the Department of Agriculture has said that it is possible to collect mangoes of the Katimon and Bari Mango-11 varieties throughout the year.
According to the information of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Rajshahi, mangoes have been cultivated on 19,362 hectares of land in the district this season. The potential production is estimated at about 2,43,993 metric tons. The market value of which is more than 780 crore taka.
Officials from the Agriculture Department say that if mangoes are not harvested before the scheduled time, their taste and quality will be good. This will have a positive impact on the domestic market as well as exports.
Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Rajshahi Department of Agriculture Extension Deputy Director Mohammad Nasir Uddin, and agricultural officials from various upazilas were present at this special meeting on mango transportation, marketing and collection.
Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam said, “Mangoes cannot be taken off the tree before the specified time in any way. We are taking a strict stand to prevent unripe and unsafe mangoes from entering the market. If anyone ignores the administrative decision and takes off the mangoes early or tries to ripen them artificially, legal action will be taken against them.”
