A high-level Chinese delegation including teachers and experts from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, met with the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui at his office, Thursday, May 7, 2026. During this time, various issues including research, training programs, academic cooperation and signing of memorandums of understanding on various topics including liver transplant, latest cancer treatment services, including medical education, services and research were discussed in detail. The possibility of cooperation in establishing an international standard Cancer Research Institute at BMU was also discussed. The Chinese delegation is visiting Bangladesh with the aim of further strengthening the long-standing friendship between Bangladesh and China and expanding cooperation in the health sector. The main objectives of the visit are to provide assistance in the transformation of clinical medical technology, develop medical human resources, conduct joint scientific research, ensure international standard medical services, and provide support for specialized training programs for doctors, nurses and related health professionals. During the meeting with Vice Chancellor Madoy, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Mustafa Kamal, Founding Chairman of the Oncology Department Professor Dr. Syed Md. Akram Hossain, Professor of the Department of Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgery Dr. Md.
