To foster technology-driven innovation and digital solutions to real-world problems, the IT Society of Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) organized the idea-based innovation competition ‘Impact Challenge Competition. A total of 53 teams from 19 universities across Bangladesh took part in the competition, reflecting growing enthusiasm among students for technology, innovation and problem-solving. Following an initial screening, the top five teams advanced to the final round held on May 4 (Monday) night at GAU’s Old Auditorium, where they presented their innovative ideas. Two finalist teams joined virtually to deliver their pitches. Team Voltix emerged as champion, while Focus Innovators secured runner-up and Phoenix claimed second runner-up. The judging panel comprised Professor Dr. Md. Moshiul Islam, Director (Research), GAU, Dr. Sattwikesh Paul and B.M. Rokonuzzaman Lava. As part of the event, a panel discussion titled “Innovation & Technology for Everyone” was held, featuring Dr. Humayun Kabir, Dr. Sattwikesh Paul, B.M. Rokonuzzaman Lava and Mahmud Al Hasan. Bibhor, with moderation by IT Society General Secretary Rudranil Mondal. GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, attending as chief guest, emphasized that technology-driven innovation is indispensable for addressing modern global challenges. He urged greater integration of technology across all sectors of agriculture, including precision agriculture. Special guest Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, Treasurer of GAU, highlighted the importance of digital competence in preparing students for the future. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan, Director of Student Welfare at GAU. Organizers described Impact Challenge as more than a competition, calling it a platform that encourages students to apply technology in solving practical problems while strengthening their innovative mindset, digital awareness and problem-solving capacity. The GAU IT Society expressed its commitment to organizing more such initiatives in the future to further engage students in technology and innovation.
