Rajshahi City Corporation’s Honorable Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inspected the construction work of Gorhanga Rail Crossing Flyover and Shalbagan Raw Market under the project titled Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development of Rajshahi Metropolitan City. On Tuesday (April 7) afternoon, he observed the progress of the work of Part A from Gorhanga intersection to Shalbagan and Part B from Gorhanga to New Market and the construction work of Shalbagan Raw Market on the ground. At this time, the RAC Administrator instructed the concerned to remove the unnecessary equipment and goods of the contractor company that had been placed on a part of the road by closing the road within the next seven days and open the road for public movement. He also instructed the concerned to complete the unfinished work including the flyovers under construction as soon as possible.
After the inspection, RAIC Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton told reporters, “Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given me the opportunity to develop Rajshahi city and serve the city’s residents. I am trying to fulfill this responsibility properly. A 30-day and 90-day scheme has already been adopted to ensure the development of the city and citizen services. Within the 30-day scheme, activities have already been strengthened in 30 wards of the city on cleanliness, development of drain systems, and mosquito control.”
The RSK administrator said, “The contractor has closed the road and placed equipment and goods on the road. This is causing disruption to the movement of people. To eliminate public suffering, I have ordered the removal of the contractor’s equipment and goods from the road within the next seven days.”
He also said that trees will be planted on the road from Railgate to Nowhata to enhance the beauty of the city. I will take all necessary steps to provide services to the people of Rajshahi metropolis, to make the metropolis more beautiful in the world, and to build a clean and green city.
During the inspection, the RSK administrator sought the cooperation of sidewalk traders to free the sidewalks from encroachment.
During the inspection, RASIC Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Supervising Engineer Md. Khairul Baker, Acting Supervising Engineer Ahmed Al Moin Parag, Executive Engineer Mahmudur Rahman Emon, former councilor of Ward No. 13 Rabiul Alam Milu, representatives of the contracting organization and other dignitaries of the area were present.
