Two children with measles symptoms died at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital today. In addition, 138 people are currently admitted to the hospital with suspected measles.

Ramech’s media spokesperson and emergency medical officer Dr. Shankar K Biswas informed the media about this at around 11 am on Monday (April 6).

The spokesperson of Ramech Hospital said that from 9 am on Sunday to 9 am on Monday (in the last 24 hours), two children died of measles at Ramech Hospital. Twenty people were admitted with suspected measles. Five patients have recovered from measles and returned home. The total number of children admitted to Ramech Hospital with suspected measles, including new and old cases, is now 138.

He said that 42 people have died due to suspected measles.

Dr. Shankar K Biswas said that the number of patients admitted to Ramech Hospital on Sunday was higher than before. There is a plan to convert an entire children’s ward into a measles isolation unit as the patient pressure continues to increase. At the same time, initiatives are being taken to transfer measles-infected children in the ICU to the Heart Foundation Hospital in Rajshahi under the direction of the Health Secretary.
