Doctors Association of Bangladesh, DAB, organized an Eid gift distribution, discussion meeting and Iftar Mahfil among needy children on March 14, 2025, at the ground adjacent to the LD Hall of the National Parliament. The chief guest of the program was the Honorable Vice President of Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Dr. Zubaida Rahman. The Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, MP, Honorable State Minister, Mr. Dr. M. A. Muhith, MP, was present as special guests. The honorable guests were the Chief Advisor, Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Doner, Chief Whip of the National Parliament, Nurul Islam Moni, MP. The program was presided over by the Honorable President of DAB, Professor Dr. Harun All Rashid. The overall supervision and management of DAB was carried out by the Honorable Secretary General, Dr. Md. Zahirul Islam Shakil. The event was attended by DAB’s Iftar Mahfil Celebration Sub-Committee Convener Professor Dr. Mostaq Rahim Swapan, Member Secretary Dr. Reza Md. Samiul Hasan (Babu), BMU DAB Honorable President and University Director (Planning and Development) Professor Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, BMU DAB Honorable General Secretary and University Proctor Dr. Sheikh Farhad, BMU Urology Department Physician and DAB Central Committee Joint Secretary General Dr. Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, DAB Central Committee Vice-President Dr. Md. Shahidul Hasan Babul, Additional Registrar-1 and DAB Central Committee Member Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain Tito, and other senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, professional leaders, senior physicians, and leaders of all levels of DAB. At the event, Eid gifts were distributed to needy children, July fighters injured in the July Mass Movement, and family members of those who have been victims of disappearances and murders in the past 17 years.
The chief guest of the event was the Honorable Vice President of Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, who said, “Healthcare is a fundamental right of the people. The government is working to ensure healthcare for everyone. It is no longer about meeting medical expenses, but about being completely calm. Quality medical care will be delivered to the doorsteps of the people of the country. Every person in the country will get the health care they need, not according to their ability. Primary healthcare will be developed as the foundation and pillar of the health system. 24-hour ambulance service will be ensured in the Upazila Health Complexes. Upazila Health Complexes will be developed as healthcare centers for mothers and children. The rights, safety and development of health workers will be ensured. The necessary modernization of the medical education system will be carried out. Safe management of medical waste will be ensured.”
In his speech as a special guest, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, MP said, all doctors, nurses, and health workers working in government health institutions including Upazila Health Complexes at the district and upazila levels will have to come to the office on time. Upazila Health Complexes will be freed from brokers. Many people working in Upazila Health Complexes, including doctors, do not come on time or are absent, this situation must be changed.
