The Journalist Torture Prevention Cell Bangladesh, Lakshmipur District Branch, has requested a meeting with the Lakshmipur Superintendent of Police to discuss the case filed against Lakshmipur Raipur Upazila Branch President Abdullah Al Mamun and member Md. Mizanur Rahman.

On Tuesday (October 21), the leaders of the organization’s district branch took the initiative to submit this appeal to the Lakshmipur Superintendent of Police.

The petition states that a case has been registered against journalists Abdullah Al Mamun and Md. Mizanur Rahman at Raipur Police Station under Case No. 26 (10) 2026. The organization claims that the two journalists went to the spot to collect news and record videos of the incident. The organization believes that the case filed against them is motivated and harassing.

The petition further states that it is necessary to uncover the true facts and ensure justice through a proper investigation of the incident. In order to inform the Superintendent of Police in this regard and ensure legal remedies, about a hundred members and leaders of all the members of the 6 upazila committees, led by the president of the organization’s Lakshmipur district branch AKM Mahmud Riaz and general secretary Abu Mohammad Manjuri Ala, are interested in attending the office of the Superintendent of Police and exchanging views. The petition states that the leaders of the organization’s central unit will also be present at the meeting.
