Bangladesh allrounder Shuvagata Hom has etched
his name in the country’s cricket folklore by becoming the first Bangladeshi
cricketer to score 7,000 runs and take 300 wickets in first-class cricket.

Shuvagata achieved the milestone on the Day 2 of Mymensingh Division’s third-
round match against Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League (NCL) at
Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The right-handed batter scored 71 off 125 balls, hitting four boundaries, to
reach the landmark. He began the day with 6,930 first-class runs and 311
wickets to his name, needing 70 more runs to complete the historic double.

He reached the 7,000-run mark before being dismissed for 71, having added one
more run to his tally after crossing the milestone.

Shuvagata has represented Bangladesh in eight Test matches, four one-day
internationals and five Twenty20 internationals.
