Police have arrested a man named Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia (52) on charges of raping a 13-year-old child in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona. The arrested man is Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia. Police have arrested a man named Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia (52) on charges of raping a 13-year-old child in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona. The arrested man is Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia.
Owner of “Ma Pharmacy” in the Jalshuka area of the upazila and founder and director of Rawjatul Akfal Noorani Hafiziya Madrasa.
The incident took place on Sunday (October 18) night in Jalshuka area of Gohalakanda union in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona district. The complainant child worked in the man’s pharmacy.
According to the child’s family members, the child fell asleep after returning home from work at the pharmacy on Sunday night. At around 9:30 pm, Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia called her and took her to his bedroom. There, the child was accused of raping her against her will. Later, the child told her family members about the incident.
Tension prevailed in the area as news of the incident spread. Angry people vandalized pharmacies and tried to block the Netrokona-Mymensingh highway. Upon receiving the news, the police of Shyamganj Investigation Center reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.
Later, around midnight, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Salah Uddin Mahmud, Purbadhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun and Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Habibur Rahman went to the spot and arrested the accused Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal Mia, and the situation calmed down.
Purbadhala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun said that the accused has been arrested. The father of the victim child has filed a case in this incident. After the legal process, the accused has been sent to Netrakona court.
UNO Md. Shafiqul Islam said that upon receiving the information, he immediately went to the spot along with the police. The victim child was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
He further said that the accused in this incident will be given the maximum punishment.
