Incidentally, when the British regime poisoned the lives of the common people of the village with brutal oppression, at that time, on the path of truth, to give initiation to the human guru, Baul Emperor Fakir Lalon Sai emerged as a guide to humanity in Chheuria, Kumarkhali, Kushtia. Although there are different opinions about Lalon’s birthplace, the mystery of his birth remains unknown to this day. He was childless. Due to financial difficulties, he could not receive formal education. However, he was self-educated. It is said that he went on a pilgrimage in his youth to gain virtue and entered the life of sadhana. When he contracted smallpox during the pilgrimage, his companions rejected him. Later, after being rescued from the Kaliganga River and regaining his life under the shelter of Malam Shah, he attained sadhana in the presence of Sadhak Siraj Sai. Lalon Akhra was built in 1823 on 16 bighas of land donated by devotee Malam Shah. Initially, a large thatched house was built there for Lalon to live and practice sadhana. His sadhana and bhajans were held in that house. From the establishment of the Akhra in Chheuria until his death, he was surrounded by his disciples and devotees. Fakir Lalon Sai composed nearly a thousand songs. This mystical Baul emperor passed away on the morning of October 17, 1890, and was buried in his room where he spent his spiritual practice and devotion.
