A mobile court has seized 120 sacks of DAP complex fertilizer from two vehicles in Dubalhati Union of Naogaon Sadar Upazila over allegations that the fertilizer was being smuggled to neighbouring Rajshahi district. The government-set value of the seized fertilizer is Tk 126,000.
The operation was conducted at around 10:00 pm on Tuesday (October 13), with assistance from local residents.
During the operation, no representative of Wasef Ali Molla, the fertilizer dealer in Dubalhati Union, was found at the scene.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Nur-e-Amin arranged for the seized fertilizer to be stored at Dubalhati Union Parishad under the supervision of Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Munirul Islam. The fertilizer was subsequently placed in the custody of the Union Parishad’s administrative officer.
According to relevant sources, the seized fertilizer will be sold to local farmers at government-fixed prices on Wednesday (October 14). The proceeds from the sale will subsequently be deposited into the government treasury.
