Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has said that the government is creating a new narrative or excuse by saying that the government that fell in the long march of 11 parties will return.
He said, the BNP government is repeatedly trying to create a narrative. It is planning to stop the movement to implement the verdict of the fair referendum and divert attention elsewhere. There is no point in this game of intimidation. The government is using intimidation as an excuse to ignore the people’s logical demands.
The Jamaat leader accused the government of denying the referendum verdict and the shortage of essential commodities by using fear mongering.
He made these remarks at a meeting on preparations for the Khulna-Jessore-Jhenaidah-Kushtia Long March to be held on October 31 at the Jessore Press Club auditorium on Sunday afternoon.
The top Jamaat leader said that the long march has been organized to demand the implementation of the referendum, improvement of the law and order situation, prevention of price hikes and control of fuel prices.

Mia Golam Parwar further said that whether they are qualified or not, BNP is installing leaders and activists of the government party in all places. He also complained that no one except BNP people has got a fertilizer dealer. The ruling party, who govern, who make promises to the people and break them; they will not understand the need for a long march. How and why the opposition party’s program should be carried out; that can be understood only if they are in the opposition party. That cannot be understood if they are in the government chair. When politics cannot be dealt with through politics, politicians make these irrelevant statements.
Criticizing the deteriorating law and order situation in the country, Golam Parwar said that police have been banned from moving alone in Khulna. When the law and order situation in the country deteriorates, police are banned from moving. He urged people to pay attention to law and order instead of making excuses and irrelevant talk.
In the past two long marches under the 11-party alliance, they have been completed completely peacefully. This long march will also be peaceful. He expressed his regret in advance to the traders, pedestrians and people of all walks of life in the area for the temporary inconvenience caused to travel and movement due to the long march.
Giving details about the long march program, the Jamaat leader said that the program will start with a short public meeting from the Baitul Mukarram area of Dhaka at 8 am on the scheduled day. After that, the long march will leave for Kushtia with a huge convoy of about 1,000 vehicles via the Padma Bridge. Media workers, doctors, artists and members of various professional organizations will participate in this nearly 12-hour journey.
Among others present at the exchange of views were – Jessore District Jamaat Ameer MP Golam Rasool, MPs Moktar Ali, Gazi Enamul Haque, and local and central leaders of Jamaat from Faridpur, Kushtia, Shariatpur, Gopalganj and neighboring districts.
