The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested Shahin (45), the main accused in the case filed in the gang rape of a widow in Chirirbandar, Dinajpur. He was arrested in a raid in Narayanganj on October 2. The arrested Shahin is the son of Rais Uddin of Folimari, Bajrardanga, Guchchagram under Chirirbandar Police Station and the uncle-in-law of the victim woman.

The case file shows that the victim had been living in her husband’s house with her two children since the death of her husband. Accused Shaheen is the woman’s uncle-in-law. Accused Shaheen, who recently returned to the country from abroad after a long time, used to make various bad suggestions to the woman and offer various temptations, including family support. On February 4, 2026, at 8:00 pm, accused Shaheen came to the woman’s house and called her. As soon as the woman heard Shaheen’s words, he forcibly took her to the kitchen of the house and raped her and threatened to kill her children if she told anyone. After that, accused Shaheen raped the woman several more times. On March 19, 2026, another accused in the case, Sufian, forcibly raped the woman after mentioning accused Shaheen. On April 11, 2026, another accused in the case, Mehrab Ali, entered the woman’s house and forcibly raped her after mentioning the previous two accused. In this incident, on July 9, 2026, the victim filed a gang rape case at Chirirbandar Police Station (Case No. 11).

After the case was filed, SRB increased intelligence surveillance along with other law enforcement agencies to arrest the accused. In continuation of this, based on specific intelligence information, a joint operation team of CPC-1, RAB-13, Dinajpur and CPSC, SRB-11, Narayanganj Camp conducted a raid in the Chittagong Road area under Siddhirganj police station of Narayanganj district at 9:00 pm on October 2, 2026 and arrested the main accused in the gang rape case of Chirirbandar police station, Shahin.

The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
