The government has started working with the goal of completing all local elections, including all union councils, in the country between January and June.
The government is in a strong position to make these local government elections free, fair and impartial. The government will not take any responsibility for the elections. State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam also clearly stated that the army will be deployed in every election if necessary to ensure the people’s right to vote.
The State Minister made this statement at a view-exchange meeting with local journalists at the Gaibandha Circuit House auditorium on Thursday (October 1) afternoon.
The government has no opportunity to participate in the elections from any profitable place. In this case, the Election Commission will decide whether the teachers of MPO-affiliated schools will be able to participate in the elections. The State Minister also highlighted the government’s new initiative to address the country’s power shortage.
He said that effective steps have already been taken to address this electricity crisis through rooftop solar power generation. The electricity generated by rooftop solar will be fed into the national grid to meet their own needs. Tk 370 crore has already been allocated for this purpose.
He said, “Every time this country has lost its way, the BNP government has pulled it back. A few days ago, BNP took responsibility for this country, which was an economically fragile country. The entire country will be developed on the basis of balanced distribution.”
Earlier, upon reaching Gaibandha Circuit House, the State Minister was given a guard of honor by the district administration.
After the exchange of views with journalists, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam joined an important meeting on law and order organized by the district administration.
