The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested Anarul Islam (50), the accused in a murder case filed over a land dispute in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. He was arrested in a raid in the early hours of September 29. The arrested Anarul is the son of the deceased Abbas Ali of Purba Balagram Adarshpara village under Jaldhaka police station.

According to the case report, on September 12, 2016, at approximately 7:30 am, Maqbul Hossain (56) was seriously injured by an opponent due to a road accident and previous enmity. His people first admitted the victim to the Jaldhaka Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty at the Jaldhaka Upazila Health Complex referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The victim, Maqbul Hossain, died at 11:00 am on September 21, 2016 while undergoing treatment at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The victim’s brother, Mohir Uddin, filed a murder case with the Jaldhaka Police Station (Case No. 21) regarding the incident.

After the case was filed, SRB increased intelligence surveillance along with other law enforcement agencies to arrest the accused. In continuation of this, based on specific intelligence information, an operation team of CPC-2, SRB-13, Nilphamari Camp conducted a raid in Jihad Bazar village under Dimla police station of Nilphamari district at 05.30 on September 29, 2026 and arrested accused No. 04 of the discussed murder case, Anarul Islam.

The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
