The Coast Guard has rescued 17 fishermen from the fishing boat “FB Masuda Shaheen” that had been floating in the sea for 4 days due to a broken shaft. This information was given by Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. Commander Siam-ul-Haq on the afternoon of Thursday, September 11, 2025.
He said that on Sunday, August 31, 2025, a fishing boat named “FB Masuda Shaheen” went to sea with 17 fishermen from the Chittagong Fishery Ghat area for fishing. Then on the night of September 7, the shaft of the boat broke and it remained in the sea for 4 days. After the fishing boat came under the mobile network, at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, a fisherman on the boat applied for help on the Coast Guard’s emergency service number 16111, and the Coast Guard became aware of the matter.
Based on the information received, a rescue operation was conducted in the area by the Coast Guard Ship Shyamal Bangla at 9 am today, Thursday, September 11, 2025. During the operation, the disabled boat with 17 fishermen was safely rescued from the area and first aid and necessary food were provided.
The process of handing over the fishing boat, along with the 17 rescued fishermen, to its owner is underway.
He further said that Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such rescue operations in the future in the service of suffering humanity.
