With the slogan ‘Ultrasound First, Ultrasound Last’, the inaugural ceremony of the 38th National Conference and International Workshop of the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU) was held today, Friday, September 11, 2026, at a five-star hotel in the capital Dhaka. The chief guest at the event was the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University, Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui. The special guest was the Director General of Bangladesh Department of Health Education, Professor Dr. Nazmul Hossain. The Honorable President of Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU) Professor Dr. Raihan Hossain presided over the event. After the inaugural ceremony, a scientific session was organized. There is also an international workshop on ultrasound with the active participation of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology and the Asian Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology. In his speech as the chief guest, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of BMU, Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui, called for utilizing the knowledge gained from the 38th National Conference and International Workshop of the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography, and said, the importance of diagnostic medicine or disease diagnosis system in the rapid and perfect development of modern medical science is now universally recognized. Modern ultrasonography is an essential part of disease diagnosis and medical management. The quality of ultrasonography services must be maintained. There is no alternative to continuous training and academic excellence of doctors in ultrasonography. For this, to ensure the most modern ultrasonography services in the world in Bangladesh, along with acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills, equal opportunities for learning in academic subjects must be created and utilized. Experts from different countries of the world are participating in this conference along with the country, the knowledge and experience gained from them will not only enrich the local doctors, scientists, technicians, and students in the field of ultrasonography, but will also play a great role in ensuring world-class ultrasonography services to patients in Bangladesh. In his speech, the Honorable President of Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU), Professor Dr. Raihan Hossain said that since its establishment in 1989, the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography has been working nationwide to expand ultrasound services. Currently, it has six training institutes in different parts of the country, from where necessary training is being given to doctors in ultrasonography. However, to maintain quality standards and expand ultrasonography services, it is the need of the hour to advance educational activities in this regard, including introducing higher courses with the necessary support of universities such as Bangladesh Medical University and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Co-Chairman of Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography and Honorary Director of National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS), Nuclear Medicine and Thyroid Specialist Professor Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Bari said that more than two hundred sonologists from different parts of the country have joined this national conference and international workshop. At the same time, experts from Vietnam, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka are participating. Which will further accelerate the activities of Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography, enrich the knowledge and science of doctors and make a great contribution to bringing radical changes in the diagnosis and medical services of patients in the country.
