Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) inaugurated the country’s first liver fat measurement, liver cancer and thyroid cancer detection machine, Resona A20. On this occasion , on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, a scientific seminar on Beyond Conventional Ultrasound: Elastoscan & Fat Quantificational With High Resolution Ultrasound was organized by the Research Cell and Ultrasound and Color Doppler Division of BMU at Kamal Uddin Ahmed Auditorium. The seminar was presided over by Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari, Director of BMU and President of Bangladesh Thyroid Society. In his speech, Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari said that about 33 percent of people in Bangladesh are suffering from fatty liver or liver fat-related diseases. Moreover, about 16 percent of people are suffering from chronic liver disease and liver cancer and 2 percent of people are suffering from thyroid cancer. In this context, Mindray has provided an ultra-high resolution machine like Resona A20 for the first time in Bangladesh. Through this new machine, for the first time in the world, the modern technology of fat quantification in the liver, Elastoscan, i.e., the groundbreaking modality Shear Wave Elastography, Stain Elastography for the grading of liver fibrous tissue, cirrhosis, liver and thyroid cancer has been added. Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari further said that with the installation of this ultra-high resolution probe (33 MHz) in Nimmas, it will now be possible to accurately diagnose various diseases of the skin, hair follicle, nail, subcutaneous pathology, and lymphatic system. In this very important scientific seminar for the patients of the country, Mr. Anup Kumar Kundu presented a scientific paper on Liver Elastography. In addition, Johanna Wong spoke on Ultra High Resolution Thyroid Elastography & Fat Quantification. A practical session was conducted on the role of ultrasound in the measurement of fat in the liver, diagnosis of liver cancer and accurate diagnosis of thyroid cancer in the presence of about a hundred doctors. The seminar was welcomed by Professor Dr. Nasrin Sultana, Head of the Department of Scintigraphy. Along with the doctors, doctors and scientists from NINMAS and BMU were present in the seminar. In addition, Manager Mr. Jewel Rana and other representatives were present on behalf of Mindray Company. At the end of the program, the president of the seminar, Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari, Director of NINMAS, thanked the Head of the Research Division of NINMAS, Dr. Papadi Mutsuddi, Head of the Ultrasound and Colour Doppler Division, Dr. Farhana Haque, and Dr. Farzana Rahman Ananya for presenting the program and declared the scientific seminar over.
