A scientific seminar on “Beyond Conventional Ultrasound: Elastoscan & Fat quantificational With High resolution Ultrasound” was organized on Tuesday, September 8 at 11:30 am. The seminar was presided over by Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS) and President of Bangladesh Thyroid Society. In his speech as the president, he mentioned that about 33 percent of people in Bangladesh are suffering from Fatty Liver disease (fat-related problems in the liver). Moreover, about 16 percent of people are suffering from Chronic Liver Disease and Liver Cancer and 2% are suffering from Thyroid. Through this new machine, for the first time, ‘Fat quantification’ (modern technology for determining fat in the liver) ‘Elastoscan’ (for grading fibrous tissue of the liver, cirrhosis and liver cancer) and the groundbreaking modality Shear wave elastography have been added to NINMAS. He further said that this ultra high With the installation of the resolution probe (33 MHz) in Nimmas, it will now be possible to accurately diagnose various diseases of the skin, hair follicle, nail, subcutaneous pathology, and lymphatic system. In the said scientific seminar, Mr. Anup Kumar Kundu presented a scientific paper on Liver elastography. In addition, Ms. Johanna Wong spoke on Ultra high resolution Thyroid elastography & Fat quantification. There, a practical session was conducted on the measurement of fat in the liver, diagnosis of liver cancer and the role of ultrasound in the accurate diagnosis of thyroid cancer in the presence of about a hundred doctors. The welcome speech was given by Professor Dr. Nasreen Sultana, Head of the Department of Scintigraphy. In addition to the doctors, doctors and scientists from NINMAS and BMU were present in the seminar. In addition, Manager Mr. Jewel Rana and other representatives were present on behalf of Mindray Company. In his speech, he thanked Mindray Company for providing ultra high resolution machines like ‘Resona A20’ for the first time in Bangladesh.
