Former MP and former whip of Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgati-Kamalnagar) constituency ABM Ashraf Uddin Nijan has set a humanitarian example by standing next to the departed BNP leader Md. Momin Ullah, who has been living an inhumane life in a dilapidated and broken house in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur.
According to local sources, Momin Ullah, former president of Ward No. 1 of Hazirhat Union No. 7 of Kamalnagar Upazila, BNP, has been active in politics for 20 years. This leader, who sacrificed himself on the streets during the party’s difficult times, had been spending inhumane days with his family members in a very dilapidated and uninhabitable hut. When the picture of his plight came to light in the media recently, the matter came to the attention of Ashraf Uddin Nijan. Later, he took the initiative to build a new pucca (half-wall) house for Momin Ullah with complete personal financing.
After about a month of intensive construction work, the keys to the newly built house were officially handed over to Momin Ullah on Thursday (September 3) afternoon. On behalf of Ashraf Uddin Nizan, the leaders of the Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations handed over the keys to the new house.

A large number of leaders and activists from various local levels of BNP and its affiliate organizations also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
At the event, BNP leaders said, “The main goal of politics is public service. BNP is always striving to appreciate the sacrifices of those workers who have shed blood and sweat during the party’s difficult times. The example set by the former MP by standing by his fellow soldiers in danger will further inspire grassroots leaders and activists on the streets.”
Momin Ullah was overcome with emotion upon receiving the keys to his new pucca house. Expressing deep gratitude, he said, “I became a bit destitute while doing politics, I didn’t have a good place to stay. I will never forget how the party and the former MP stood by me during this difficult time. I wish him good health and long life.”
