Protest rallies and processions have been held in Gaibandha demanding a fair investigation, prompt arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the brutal murder of Rangpur teacher Ganapati Chakraborty and his family members.
The hour-long program was organized by the Samajtantrik Mahila Forum Gaibandha district branch in front of Ganasas Market in the district town on Wednesday (August 26) afternoon.
Speaking at the event were leaders and activists of the organization, including Samajtantrik Women’s Forum district president Israt Jahan, district member Afroza Begum, member secretary of the BSA district branch Sukumar Chandra Modak.
The speakers said that the brutal killing of members of a family is unacceptable in any way. In addition to an impartial and fair investigation to uncover the real cause of the murder, those involved in the incident must be quickly identified and arrested.
They also said that there is no room for the murder to be taken to a different category. They urged the administration to ensure that no innocent person is harassed and that the real criminals do not escape through the loopholes of the law.
After the rally, the leaders and activists took out a protest march demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers. The march circled various roads in the district town.
