Naogaon District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested a young man named Kazi Abdullah alias Fuad (22) on charges of sexually harassing a student of Naogaon Government College on the street. The motorcycle used in the harassment was also seized in the operation.

The arrested person is Kazi Abdullah alias Fuad, son of Nazrul Islam of Shantahar Janakoli area of ​​Adamdighi upazila of Bogra.

According to police sources, on August 16, a master’s student of Naogaon Government College left the mess to go to tuition. On the way, she reached the house of a certain Imrul Kayes through the alley of the ATM field, when an unknown person on a motorcycle came from behind and touched her unexpectedly and quickly fled.

After the incident, the victim student went to the office of the Naogaon Superintendent of Police to report the matter. After hearing her complaint, the Superintendent of Police ordered the district detective branch to quickly identify and arrest the accused.

Police said that after five days, a DB team analyzed the footage of IT and AI cameras and identified the accused and the motorcycle he used. Later, a raid was conducted in Naogaon and Adamdighi areas of Bogra and Kazi Abdullah alias Fuad was arrested from Shantahar. At the same time, the motorcycle used during the incident was also seized.

Police said the victim later identified the arrested person. Legal action has been taken against the youth arrested in this incident under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.

In this regard, the Naogaon Police Superintendent said, “Any kind of violence or sexual harassment against women and children anywhere, including on the road, will be strictly suppressed. In such incidents, the district police will take necessary action as per the law.”
