Tuesday, July 21, 2026, a new research cell and a modern library were inaugurated at the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS) on the Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) campus to accelerate research and diagnostic services. In addition, the Nuclear Cafe of NINMAS was inaugurated on the 11th floor of D Block of BMU. Later, a discussion, inauguration and reunion program was organized on this occasion at the NINMAS Professor Dr. Kamaluddin Ahmed Auditorium with the participation of former and current professors, doctors, scientists, resident students, officers and employees of NINMAS. It was informed at the event that Nuclear Medicine is a unique combination of science, service, research and human welfare. Starting from diagnosis to every step of modern treatment, this specialized branch is working as a light of hope in people’s lives today. In that continuity, following the path shown by the elders, under the leadership of the current director of BMU NINMAS, Professor Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Bari, new horizons of research have been opened in addition to medical services. A research cell has been established, a modern and digitalized library has been newly arranged, and the modern canteen ‘Nuclear Cafe’ has been rearranged as a sincere meeting place for colleagues. All in all, the reason for taking and implementing all these initiatives has opened new horizons of knowledge and service in BMU NINMAS. It was informed at the inauguration ceremony that Professor Dr. M. A. Karim is a visionary pioneer of nuclear medicine in Bangladesh. With his wisdom, leadership and relentless pursuit, the country’s nuclear medicine has achieved a respectable position in the international arena. In tribute to his unforgettable contribution, the modernized library has been named “Dr. M. A. Karim Library”. On this occasion, a documentary on the activities of NIMMAS was screened and later scientific papers were presented by Associate Professor Dr. Papri Mutsuddi and Professor Dr. Nasrin Sultana. Former professors, doctors and scientists of NINMAS reminisced and praised the great initiative of NINMAS Director Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari. In this beautiful event, NINMAS Director Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Bari expressed his firm determination to take NINMAS forward by further expanding and energizing its research and service activities for the country, its patients and people. At the end of the program, everyone participated in a friendly dinner at the ‘Nuclear Cafe’.
