Week-long tree fair inaugurated in Jessore

A week-long tree fair has begun in Jessore with the theme 'Beautify the country by planting trees, Bangladesh first'. Organized by the District Administration and Social Forestry Department of Jessore, the tree plantation drive and tree fair were inaugurated by the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan, at the Town Hall ground on Saturday (July 18). A week-long tree fair has begun in Jessore with the theme ‘Beautify the country by planting trees, Bangladesh first’. Organized by the District Administration and Social Forestry Department of Jessore, the tree plantation drive and tree fair were inaugurated by the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan, at the Town Hall ground on Saturday (July 18).
The event began with the release of balloons and festoons, after which the District Commissioner and guests visited each stall of the fair.
Also present at the event were Additional District (General) Sujan Sarkar, District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam, District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Divisional Forest Officer of Social Forestry Department Jessore Anita Mondal, Additional Deputy Director of Agriculture Department Jessore Samaren Biswas, Jessore District BNP President Advocate Saberul Haque Sabu, Vice President Golam Reza Dulu, General Secretary of Jessore Institute A.Z.M. Salek, General Secretary of District Women BNP Ferdousi Begum.
Administrative officials, stall owners, civil society representatives and dignitaries were also present. A total of 31 stalls of fruit, forest and medicinal trees will be open to visitors at the tree fair from July 18 to 24. The fair will run from 9 am to 8 pm every day. Security rooms and control rooms have been deployed to maintain an overall peaceful environment at the fair.
It is worth noting that, as per the government’s announced program, 50,000 trees have already been planted across the country, out of the target of planting 250 million trees in the next five years. The program was conducted by student Sohanur Rahman Sohan.
