Thursday, July 16, a colorful procession was organized in the capital Dhaka on the occasion of the holy Rath Yatra of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev, one of the main religious festivals of the followers of Sanatan Dharma. Like every year, this year too, the well-decorated chariot of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev, brother Balaram and sister Subhadra, accompanied by thousands of devotees, marched towards Dhakeshwari National Temple from the ISKCON temple in Swamibag in Dhaka. Numerous devotees of different ages and classes and professions participated in this Rath Yatra held on the auspicious date. The main roads of the capital became alive with the sound of conch shells, uludhwani, Harinama sankirtan and the sound of ‘Jai Jagannath’. Devotees consider themselves blessed by pulling the rope of the chariot and believe that by pulling the chariot with devotion, one can obtain the grace of the Supreme Lord. On the occasion of the Rath Yatra , special puja, aarati, distribution of prasad and religious activities were also organized at the Swamibag ISKCON temple. Law enforcement officers were on alert to ensure security along the entire route of the procession. According to religious texts and ancient traditions, the Rath Yatra of Jagannath Dev is considered a symbol of the welfare of humanity, brotherhood, harmony and surrender to God. This great union festival of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev, Balarama and Subhadra carries special significance for the followers of traditional religions. According to devotees, the Rath Yatra is not just a religious ceremony, but a unique expression of mutual goodwill, social harmony and cultural heritage. Held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere in the capital, this Rath Yatra will spread an atmosphere of joy and devotion among the religious people till the next Ultow Rath.
