Samina Noor Taj, a second-grade student of Afaz Uddin Memorial School and College in Kaliakair, Gazipur, has brought great pride to Bangladesh by securing first place in Asia at the Hippo – International English Language Olympiad 2026, held in Thailand on July 3. In recognition of her outstanding achievement, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nurul Karim Bhuiyan invited Samina to his office, where he congratulated her by presenting flowers, chocolates, and a tree sapling as tokens of appreciation. After hearing her wish, the Deputy Commissioner said he would give the matter due importance and assured her that he would make his best efforts to arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Family members of Samina, representatives of her school, and officials concerned were also present at the event.
