A human chain and protest meeting was held in the Suhilpur Moulabari area of ​​Suhilpur Union in Sadar Upazila of Brahmanbaria demanding justice for his son Sumon Molla, who was accused of beating and torturing his birth mother for a long time.

The human chain was organized at 3 pm on Thursday (July 9) in the Suhilpur Moulabari area by the victim’s family and local residents. Local dignitaries, men and women, and people from different classes and professions participated in it. Those present at the human chain demanded a proper investigation into the allegations and prompt legal action against the culprits.

Former member of Suhilpur Ward No. 3 Mohammad Shahin Munshi, local arbitrator Abul Harish Bhuiyan, Haji Nazrul Islam Doctor, Hashem Chowdhury and Munshi Mollah, along with prominent figures of the area, spoke at the protest meeting. The speakers said that the family has been in a dispute over family and land for a long time. It is alleged that recently, Sumon Mollah, along with his in-laws, attacked his biological mother. In the same incident, his brother Masud Mollah was also injured by stabbing him with a knife. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, it was claimed that he had to get 10 stitches on his head.

Suman Molla’s mother Jahanara Begum, tearful as she joined the human chain, said, “My son suffered a stroke while abroad. One of his body parts was paralyzed. I sold my three hundred acres of land to get him treated. I tried to heal him with everything I had. But today, that same son injured my other son, Masud Molla, by stabbing him with a stick.”

She further alleged, “Suman has been mentally torturing me for the past six years. He has harassed my sons by filing false cases of female torture and rape through his wife. My sons have also had to serve time in jail in these cases. I am a helpless mother. I want a proper investigation into the torture inflicted on me and exemplary punishment for the culprits.”

Local residents participating in the human chain said that it is highly condemnable and sad if a child is accused of attacking his own biological mother. They urged the administration to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, take legal action against the real culprits, and ensure the safety of the victim’s family.

After the human chain, a written complaint was filed with the district administration and law enforcement agencies demanding a serious investigation into the incident and prompt action.
