Three shops selling cosmetics, jewellery and thread and yarn have been burnt down in a fire at the Bora Bazar fancy market in Jessore city. Eyewitnesses and relevant sources said that the fire started from an electrical short circuit in a cosmetics shop at Bora Bazar fancy market. Later, the fire quickly spread to two neighboring shops. In this, the shops of cosmetics businessman Shamim Hossain, owner of City Gold Parvez Sheikh and thread and yarn trader Rashedul Islam and the goods inside were completely burnt down.
On receiving the information, four units led by Assistant Director of Jessore Fire Service and Civil Defense Mohammad Abdus Salam reached the spot and brought the fire under control in about an hour with the help of local people. Assistant Director Mohammad Abdus Salam also said, “If the fire service had not arrived on time, the damage would have been much more.”
The fire service said, “Initially, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit.” However, the actual cause of the fire and the exact extent of the damage will be confirmed after the investigation.
Meanwhile, Inspector Aman Ullah, in-charge of Jessore Sadar Police Outpost, said, “We were at the scene and the environmental situation has now returned to normal.” The remaining issues are being investigated.
