GAU Launches Three-Day Training on Capacity Building
With the slogan “Building Stronger Faculty, Advancing Agricultural Education,” Gazipur Agricultural University on Monday (June 22) inaugurated a three-day faculty development training program titled “Capacity Building of Faculty Member of Agriculture, GAU” under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of agricultural education, align academic programs with international standards, and strengthen institutional preparedness for accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program. With the slogan “Building Stronger Faculty, Advancing Agricultural Education,” Gazipur Agricultural University on Monday (June 22) inaugurated a three-day faculty development training program titled “Capacity Building of Faculty Member of Agriculture, GAU” under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project.
The initiative aims to enhance the quality of agricultural education, align academic programs with international standards, and strengthen institutional preparedness for accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program.
The training program was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman at the university’s Old Auditorium. A total of 92 faculty members—from lecturers to professors of the Faculty of Agriculture—are participating in the training, which will continue until June 24.
The inaugural session was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Baset Mia, Sub-Project Manager (SPM), while Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Associate Sub-Project Manager, delivered the welcome address.
Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the growing importance of accreditation as a benchmark of academic excellence in higher education. He also highlighted the increasing role of technology and innovation in modern agriculture, noting that the training program marks a significant step toward aligning agricultural education with global standards.
The technical sessions featured distinguished experts from academia and industry. Brigadier General Tamjidul Haque Chowdhury, Managing Director of cloudconnectai.com, delivered a session on the application of artificial intelligence in transforming agriculture.
Former GAU Professor Dr. M. A. Karim and former Director General of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam discussed international research collaboration and global academic networking. Former Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Dr. Md. Jahir Uddin conducted a session on effective classroom management to improve learning outcomes.
Over the remaining two days, ten senior professors from GAU will facilitate sessions on outcome-based education (OBE), research capacity development, academic quality assurance, and technology-driven agricultural education.
