One person killed in clash between two groups over dominance in Raipura, Narsingdi

A young man named Anik (20) was killed in a clash between two groups over dominance in Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi. At least 10 people from both sides were injured in the incident.

The clash took place early Tuesday morning between Nazim Uddin, a local from Haripur and Darigaon areas of Nilaksha Union of the upazila, and Alal Munshi group.

The deceased Anik is said to be the son of Osman Me¤^ar from Darigaon area and a member of Nazim Uddin group.

Police and locals said that there had been a dispute over dominance between Nazim Uddin and Alal Munshi group from Darigaon area of ​​Nilaksha Union for a long time.  As a result, both sides have been engaged in clashes since early Tuesday morning, armed with firearms and indigenous weapons.

Several youths and teenagers were seen wearing bulletproof jackets and helmets and taking part in the clashes with firearms.

At least ten people, including Anik, Raju, Sumon, Kashem and Mubarak, were seriously injured in the clashes and gunfire between supporters of the two sides. Among the injured, Anik, Raju and Mubarak were rescued and taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, and all three of them were sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment. Anik (20), son of former UP member Osman Mia, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said that there was a dispute between people from Nazim Uddin and Alal Munshir’s group over dominance.  As part of this, armed with firearms and indigenous weapons, they engaged in clashes since early Tuesday morning.

Upon receiving the information, members of the police, RAB, upazila administration and other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Currently, the situation in the area is under police control. A person named Anik was killed in the clash.
