The district police have recovered a huge quantity of narcotics in separate operations in Kasba and Akhaura upazilas of Brahmanbaria. Three alleged drug peddlers have been arrested during the operation. Police said that on Monday (June 15) at 1:30 am, a team of Kasba Police Station conducted a raid in the Nayanpur Bazar area of Bayek Union No. 10 of the upazila based on a secret tip-off. The district police have recovered a huge quantity of narcotics in separate operations in Kasba and Akhaura upazilas of Brahmanbaria. Three alleged drug peddlers have been arrested during the operation.
Police said that on Monday (June 15) at 1:30 am, a team of Kasba Police Station conducted a raid in the Nayanpur Bazar area of Bayek Union No. 10 of the upazila based on a secret tip-off. A person named Rakibul Islam Rakib (father: deceased Abu Nasir, village: Shibpur, police station: Nabinagar) was arrested in the raid. 43 bottles of whiskey were recovered from his custody. The recovered narcotics were seized and a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed at Kasba Police Station in this incident.
On the other hand, on the same day at 5:30 am, Akhaura Police Station conducted a raid in Hasimpur area of Dharkhar Union based on a secret tip-off and recovered 25 kg of ganja from a house. Two people, identified as Mosh. Achma Akhter and Shahjalal Khandaker, were arrested in the incident.
A case has been registered at Akhaura Police Station against the arrested Achma Akhter’s husband Shahjalal Khandaker and them on charges of drug possession and trafficking.
The media wing of the district police said that the ongoing special operation against drugs will continue and the activities of law enforcement agencies will be further strengthened to eradicate drugs.
