World Blood Donor Day 2026 celebrated at BMU

Blood Transfusion Society of Bangladesh (BTSB) organized a rally today at Bangladesh Medical University on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026 on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui inaugurated the rally as the chief guest. Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas was present as the special guest. Mostafa Kamal and other administration officials participated in the rally. In addition, the Chairman, teachers, officers and students of the Transfusion Medicine Department of Bangladesh Medical University, as well as specialists, doctors and students of the Transfusion Medicine Department of various government and private hospitals spontaneously participated in the rally. BTSB’s Honorable President Professor Dr. Farhana Islam, Secretary General Dr. Khairul Islam, Treasurer Dr. Md. Wasim and other members of BTSB were present at the event. The Chief Guest, Honorable Vice Chancellor, in his speech, emphasized on increasing the number of voluntary blood donors in the country. He encouraged everyone to donate blood voluntarily and at the end of his speech, he inaugurated the rally by releasing balloons.
The program was moderated by BTSB Organizing Secretary and Associate Professor of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, BMU, Dr. Khan Anisul Islam. Other speakers at the event strongly urged the adoption of programs in various institutions, including educational institutions, to encourage safe blood transfusion and voluntary blood donation, and to turn voluntary blood donation into a social movement.
