Dhaka, 8 June 2026: A seminar and discussion on the life and work of Khan Bahadur Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah was held at 3:00 PM in the library room of Ahsan Manzil Museum. Presenting the main paper at the seminar, Professor Dr. Md. Alamgir, Professor of Asian University of Bangladesh and former Keeper of Bangladesh National Museum, discussed various aspects of Khan Bahadur Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah’s working life. Khan Bahadur Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah was a social worker, writer, educationist and philanthropist. He added electric lights to Dhaka for the beautification of Dhaka. Participating in the discussion, Asma Ferdousi, Keeper of Public Education Department of Bangladesh National Museum, highlighted Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah’s contribution to the field of education.  Md. Sadequl Islam, Secretary of Bangladesh National Museum, advised us to learn from the life of Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah in his discussion. He said, “The Nawab has taught us to distribute our wealth and power to help the people.” Professor Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Principal of Kabi Nazrul Government College, said, “Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah used to send 40 poor people to perform the holy Hajj every year at his own expense.” Dipankar Biswas, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, said, “Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah was a member of the Asiatic Society, which is why we remember him not as a Nawab but as a philanthropist, writer and creative researcher.” Tanjim Wahab, Director General of Bangladesh National Museum and President of the seminar, in his presidential address, called Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah a timeless personality. He urged the younger generation to learn from the life of Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah and build a society. He further expressed the hope that by working together, we can take the museum to a level where visitors will enter the museum as visitors but leave as researchers. Md. Sultan Mahmud, Keeper (Routine Duty) of Ahsan Manzil Museum, delivered the welcome speech at the seminar. Dibakar Sikder, Deputy Keeper of Ahsan Manzil Museum, moderated the program.
