Police have arrested an identified robber in a robbery incident in Naogaon Sadar Upazila by showing a sharp razor. A case has been filed against him under the Speedy Trial Act in this incident.
According to police sources, on June 3, 2026, Sultana Razia (father: deceased Azizur Rahman), village Paharpur, Sadar, filed a written complaint with Naogaon Police Station. In the complaint, she said that at around 11 am, she and her mother Shahana were leaving their house to buy iron rods. At that time, at the moment the main gate of the house was locked, the local identified robber A. Alim (50) threatened them with a sharp razor.
At one stage, the accused Alim snatched cash and a bag from the plaintiff and snatched a gold chain weighing about 1 bhari from his neck and fled. When the local people came forward after hearing the screams of the victim and her mother, the accused fled the scene by brandishing a knife.
Immediately after the incident, a special team of Naogaon Sadar Police Station started an operation under the direction of Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam. Under the supervision of the officer-in-charge, SI Shahin Mia and ASI Abdul Malek conducted the operation for several hours along with the accompanying force. Later, with the help of the local people, the accused A. Alim was arrested along with a sharp knife.
Police said that a case has been filed against the arrested accused under the Speedy Trial Act and further legal action is under process.
