The district’s main Eid congregation was held at 7:30 am at the central Eidgah ground in Jessore. Thousands of devotees from the city and surrounding areas participated in it. Later, the second congregation was held at the same place at 8:30 am. The main congregation was led by the Imam of the Court Mosque. After the prayers, special prayers were offered, seeking peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, nation and the global Muslim Ummah. In addition, prayers were also offered for communal harmony and human welfare.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit participated in the Eid congregation. In a brief speech before the prayers, he extended Eid greetings to the worshippers present.

At that time, Jessore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan gave Eid greetings. Besides, Jessore District Police Superintendent Syed Rafiqul Islam, District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Deputy Director of Local Government Department and Jessore Municipality Administrator Rafiqul Hasan, Jessore District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, Jessore District Jubo Dal Convener Tamal Ahmed, Member Secretary Ansarul Haque Rana, along with senior administration officials, political figures, editors of various newspapers, publishers and journalists from different classes and professions were present at the congregation.

After the Eid prayers, people, regardless of religion or caste, hug and exchange greetings with each other. Later, devout and able-bodied Muslims sacrifice animals to please Allah.

Meanwhile, Eid congregations were held in various areas of the district. Eid congregations were held in 76 Eidgahs and mosques in the district, including the Old Police Line Mosque, Jessore General Hospital Jame Mosque, Jessore Central Terminal Jame Mosque, Ghop Cemetery Jame Mosque, Markaz Mosque, Border Guard Battalion BGB, Jhumjhumpur, Jessore Central Jail Eidgah Maidan, Jessore Palbari, Rajarhat Chanchra Muruli Bakchar.

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, important roads and establishments in the city are decorated with flags and banners reading ‘Eid Mubarak’. The national flag is hoisted on government, semi-government and private buildings at sunrise.

Special security measures have also been taken by the law enforcement agencies on the occasion of Eid. Additional police have been deployed at Eidgahs, important roads, bus stands and public gathering places. At the same time, the municipality and local administration are working to quickly remove the sacrificial waste and keep the environment clean.
