Police have arrested Sabuj Mia, the main accused in the case of murder of a 9-year-old child named Ramim by inserting air into anal canal in Palash, Narsingdi. He was arrested from the area adjacent to Arshinagar and the railway station in the district town early today (May 20).
The arrested Sabuj Mia (27) is the son of Lokman Hossain of Charkarardi village in Gazaria union.
Police said that the accused Sabuj had been absconding since the murder case. He was arrested with the help of information technology while secretly fleeing to another place.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palash Police Station Shahed Al Mamun said that the arrested Sabuj has been sent to the court for a seven-day police remand. The police are also working to arrest the other accused in the case.
Earlier, on May 6, four youths named Sabuj, Faisal, Shishir and Babu were accused of forcibly taking a 9-year-old child named Ramim to a rickshaw garage in Gazaria Bazar, Palash and blowing air into his anus and mouth with an air machine. Later, when the child fell seriously ill, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical Hospital. Later, he died there while undergoing treatment.
Ripon Mia, the father of the child who died in this incident, filed a murder case against the four accused youths at Palash Police Station. Meanwhile, the accused were absconding since the child was killed.
