A memorial meeting was held on the occasion of the 1st death anniversary of Professor Dr. Mobin Khan Sir, former Treasurer of Bangladesh Medical University, Founding Chairman of the Department of Hepatology (Liver), a pioneer of liver diseases in Bangladesh, a great teacher, an ideal physician, and a role model who made outstanding contributions to the expansion of liver disease education and research. Saturday, November 1, 2025, this memorial meeting was held at the Lecture Hall of BMU’s Super Specialized Hospital. The memorial meeting organized by the Department of Hepatology of BMU, Hepatology Society, and Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Bangladesh was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of BMU, Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam.
In his speech, BMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam said, Professor Dr. Mobin Khan Sir had a dynamic life. He was unparalleled in punctuality. He would come to the office before 8 am every day. He was unparalleled in taking any work forward even in adverse situations. He was a religious man. He is a teacher to follow for the current students in the field of Perfect Clinical Expertise. He was a perfect craftsman in his work. If the qualities of Professor Dr. Mobin Khan Sir, who has extraordinary qualifications, are not followed by the current doctors and residents, higher medical education will face serious challenges in the future. Therefore, it is desirable for the current medical society to follow the qualities of Mobin Khan Sir and make the medical profession brighter and brighter.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader said, he was a rare person who was busy with work. His concentration in the academic field was unparalleled. He made great contributions in the field of research as well as medical education. He will be forever remembered for his contribution to the medical services of the people.
Hepatology Society General Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Golam Azam and BMU Hepatology Department Associate Professor Dr. Saiful Islam moderated the program, while Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Professor Dr. Md. Selimur Rahman, Professor Dr. MA Kashem Khandaker, Professor Dr. Fazlul Haque, BCPS Secretary Professor Dr. ABM Jamal, Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Bangladesh General Secretary Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Dr. Mostaq Ahmed, Dr. Shahed Ahmed Setu, Mobin Khan Sir’s wife Mrs. Muna Khan, and others spoke.
They said, he was a workaholic. He laid a strong foundation for hepatology in Bangladesh. He taught his students in the field of education. His travels in the international arena were limitless. He played a unique role in bringing the liver department from its inception to the present stage, including establishing the liver department in Bangladesh, launching courses, and creating positions for liver doctors.
After the commemorative speech, a digital classroom was inaugurated in the Hepatology Department of BMU in the presence of Professor Dr. Mobin Khan Sir’s family members to preserve the memory of Professor Dr. Mobin Khan Sir.
