On the 49th death anniversary of the national poet of Bangladesh, Kazi Nazrul Islam, a poet of the exploited, deprived, oppressed people, a believer in non-communal consciousness, a poet of world humanity, a prayer meeting was held after Zohar at the Central Jame Mosque of Bangladesh Medical University yesterday, Wednesday, 12th Bhadra 1432 Bangabhab, 27th August 2025. This prayer meeting was organized by the BMU administration to seek forgiveness for the poet’s soul. Respected teachers, doctors, officials and employees of BMU participated in the prayer meeting of Kazi Nazrul Islam, a poet of love, betrayal, communism and awakening, known as a rebel poet. The prayer meeting was conducted by the Pesh Imam and Khatib Hafez Maulana Mufti Abdul Ahad of BMU’s Central Jame Mosque.
It is worth mentioning that the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam passed away on 12th Bhadra, 1383 B.E. in Cabin 117 of B Block of the present Bangladesh Medical University (formerly PG Hospital). Currently, this room is being preserved by the BMU administration as a memorial room for the poet.
