Exhibition titled “Photography of Lingjiatan Culture” inaugurated at Bangladesh National Museum

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China Jointly organized by Anhui Museum of China and Bangladesh National Museum On Monday, August 25, the opening ceremony of a special exhibition featuring replicas of artifacts and photographs was organized at the main auditorium lobby of the Bangladesh National Museum to present the history and rich culture of China’s 5,000-year-old Lingjiatan culture. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at the event. Also present as special guests were the Vice Governor of Anhui Province, China, Honorable Mr. Sun Yong, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Md. Mofidur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh-China Cultural, Economic and Mass Communication Center, Mr. Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Mr. Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Tanzim Ibne Wahab, Director General of Bangladesh National Museum. In 1987, a prehistoric site was discovered in Lingjiatan Village, Tongzha City, Hanshan County, Anhui Province. The site is over five thousand years old and covers an area of ​​approximately 1.4 million square meters. This archaeological site in Anhui Province is listed as one of the largest and most important archaeological discoveries in ancient China. The jade carving art, tomb culture, religious symbols, and rituals of the ancient Lingjiatan culture of China are depicted in this exhibition through replicas and photographs of 38 (thirty-eight) artifacts. According to archaeologists, the Lingjiatan culture was one of the communities of Chinese civilization where social stratification, rituals, agriculture, and the development of handicrafts are clearly visible. The exhibition presents the lifestyle, rituals, and artistic traditions of this prehistoric society through photographs. In addition, 15 (fifteen) new artifacts were added to the China Corner of Gallery No. 44 of the Bangladesh National Museum for visitors. The exhibition will be open to visitors from August 25 to September 26, 2025, Saturday to Wednesday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Friday from 2:30 pm to 7 pm. The exhibition will be closed on Thursdays and other public holidays.
